Frequently Asked Questions

Is it difficult to qualify?
This will depend upon the status of the business at the point of application. Some businesses will have no difficulty in immediately satisfying the criteria, while others may need to improve in few areas. Naturally, some businesses at the lower end of the spectrum would need to seriously consider embarking on a concentrated customer service improvement drive if they wish to compete with DSES members.

The minimum entry requirements is based on meeting customers needs and expectations, together with embracing the ethical principles and management practices outlined in the criteria for the scheme. The stages and procedures of the application process have been kept as simple and as short as possible.

What happens if we do not pass from the first attempt?

Businesses should view the criteria as a tool for improving their business. The DSES Office never reveals the identity of businesses that apply and do not succeed in gaining membership to the scheme. The scheme's main objective is to help businesses applying the criteria for service excellence to their advantage.

Unsuccessful applicants to the scheme will be given a chance to reapply Free of charge after three months of their last submission. The reapplying period is valid for three months. However, businesses that were not able to take advantage of this offer within this grace period may reapply again the following year.

What is the Membership Life Span?

Membership may be retained indefinitely providing:
  • The conditions of membership are maintained and the annual membership subscription is paid.
  • Mystery shoppers’ reports are acted upon.
  • The average annual mystery shopper score is maintained above 75%.
  • The code of business ethics is adhered to
